Drottningholm Palace is located 40 minutes away from Stockholm on an island called Lovon. Despite being built in the 16th century, it is still being used by the Swedish Royal Family. Originally, the palace was build as a castle and in the18th century, the interior was transformed to the rococo style while the gardens were built in the symmetrical boroque style. You can visit this magnificent palace by taking a ferry from the centre of Stockholm (right outside of the city hall). The ferry lasts about 40 minutes.
