The longest road tunnel in the world can be found in Aurland, Norway about 200 km north east of the beautiful town of Bergen and about a 30 minute drive from Flam, Norway in the fjords. The Lærdal Tunnel is just over 24 miles long – the equivalent of 24.5 kilometres in length.

I unexpectedly found my way to this tunnel by following the directions Google Maps provided me with and was pleased to find myself driving through the longest road tunnel in the world! What makes it unique besides its impressive length is the numerous caves that remind you to stay awake and alert whilst driving!
