Palace of Caserta is located about 2-3 hours south of Rome and is about one hour from Amalfi coast and is a perfect stop on your way to Amalfi. It was constructed in the 18th Century by the Bourbon Kings of Naples, in the architectural style of Baroque. While the palace is beautiful inside, the fountains that are found on the outside and may take you a while to walk (unless you take the bus that runs throughout the gardens) are the real highlight. It is also said that the fountains were build to rival those found in Peterhof or Summer Palace near St. Petersburg, Russia.
