Peterhof Palace is also known as the Summer Palace of Peter the Great. It was built on the outskirts of St. Petersburg. The best way to get there is by taking a Hydrofoil boat from the Hermitage, which departs every 30 minutes. This will ensure you get the best view of the palace and the grand cascade. Architecturally, this is the most spectacular palace with the best fountains I have ever seen! Apart from the palace itself and the grand cascade shown in the picture, the grounds have many other fountains and gardens which are a work of art. As the king was a bit of a prankster, watch out for the fountains that spray visitors as you come under them. This was a big amusement for the king as back in his time, people used to put flour in their hair which would became a paste upon contact with the water. You will need at least one full day to explore the gardens and palace. It is definitely a must see place and should be at the top of any traveler’s list!
