The Acropolis and The Parthenon are the most visited places in Athens, Greece. It is a must visit for historians, architects, archaeologists and travellers! From its statues to theatre buildings, there are no shortages to sights. However, there are a couple of things that travellers should be aware of:

1) Shoes- the hike to the top will take 30 minutes to an hour depending on your interests in the sites along the way. The walk way is partially stone and steps are uneven, so wearing comfortable shoes is a must!

2) Wind – Be prepared for fly away hair which will mean bad hair day at the top!

3) Water – Make sure you bring enough water, especially when visiting in summer months! Temperatures can go above 40 degrees celsius in July & August.

4) Camera – the views from the top are fantastic. Make sure you do not make the same mistake I did where I did not bring a good lens for the photos!
